One shot at a time.
Repeat your best.

Bowling coaching for beginner to elite athletes—built around your natural strengths, sharper awareness, and a shot you can trust when it matters.

The coaching philosophy

Your game.
Your strengths.
Your best shot.

Good coaching should make you more yourself—not turn you into somebody else’s model.

I work with the athlete in front of me: how you move, what you see, what you feel, and what helps you compete with conviction. We simplify the signal, build a dependable system, and make your best shot show up more often.

“When good players make a shot, they don’t leave anything in the bag. They bring everything to every shot. This often looks like they are throwing hard, coming out of their shoes as it were.

They’re not.

They roll the ball, coming completely through every shot, neither tentative nor uncommitted.
They would rather go down in flames than miss because of doubt.”— Susie Minshew, USBC Gold Coach

Tips & tricks

Four cues for your next session.

Small, specific checkpoints you can carry onto the approach today.

01

Finish the shot

Roll through the ball with full commitment. A confident finish is not about throwing harder—it is about leaving nothing tentative in the motion.

Ask: Did I commit all the way through?

02

Separate feel from result

Name what you actually felt: timing, balance, finger exit, speed, or direction. Specific observations are easier to repeat than simply calling a shot good or bad.

Ask: What, exactly, did I feel?

03

Look with purpose

Your eyes and the ball do not always need the same destination. Learn the visual target that sends the ball through the part of the lane you intend.

Ask: Did my eyes guide the right ball path?

04

Measure the system

Score is feedback, not the whole story. Track the quality of your process: pre-shot routine, commitment, observation, and adjustment.

Ask: Which part of my system held up?

A reminder for the pocket

“Fate whispers to the warrior, ‘You cannot withstand the storm.’ The warrior whispers back, ‘I am the storm.’

Coaching Wisdom I Carry Forward

Words worth carrying.

A collection of lessons and reminders from trusted coaches and people I have learned from over the years.

Process · Targeting · Awareness · Commitment
The least important information from a bowling outing is score.
What matters is that you know where you need to look to get the ball where it needs to be. They are often not the same thing.
‘That felt great coming off my fingers’ is more specific than ‘That was a great shot.’ It also increases your observational awareness and makes it more likely for you to repeat.
When good players make a shot, they don’t leave anything in the bag. They bring everything to every shot.

Individuality
Work within what a bowler already has and enhance their natural abilities.

A coaching principle learned from Lou Marquez, USBC Gold Coach

Preparation
Athletes don’t rise to the occasion. They reflect the level of their training and thoroughness of preparation. We undervalue the system. Athletes don’t rise to the level of their goals. They fall to the level of their systems.

James Clear

Awareness
To listen, observe and trust.
Trace the effect back to the cause. And believe in your players.

Focus
Be the best one-shot warrior that you can be.

Continuous learning
If you strive for a goal, you’re going to have to put yourself out there and try to learn as much as you can.
